Soweto residents have been refusing to pay Eskom the massive amount they owe the power utility. They say that the ANC promised them free electricity, so they shouldn't have to pay.
Soweto remains one of Eskom's biggest payment defaulters and it has been criticised for failing to switch off the township's power.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that the debt owed by Soweto is massive - a whopping R18 billion, and that number isn't going down.
South Africans not living in Soweto are tired of hearing about this debt and want it to be paid.
