- Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula's popularity on social media is coming back to bite some cheeky road users
- A man recently revealed that he had been bribing his way out of having a license for quite some time
- It went viral, and Mbalula thanked him for exposing himself to the authorities
People should really think twice before posting some things to social media and this South African proves it.
Thee_boy posted that a crisp R100 note had served as his driver's license for 3 years, an obvious hint that traffic cops could be coerced into turning a blind eye with bribes.
While citizens undoubtedly could relate to using cash in sticky situations, many tagged the Transport Minister who has an impressive presence on the platform.
Mbalula heard the call and answered, commenting on the situation:
"We don’t have a Driving License issuing authority at the Reserve Bank. Thanks for handing yourself over to us... sokbamba now!"
While it remains unknown whether or not the authorities will take action, the incident incited many responses with people either finding it hilarious or just sad.
Briefly.co.za reported that Mbalula had recently been joined by President Cyril Ramaphosa who had kicked off October Transport Month, so it wouldn't be surprising if the minister followed through with his comment.
