- Kaizer Chiefs signing Kearyn Baccus has already been compared to the legendary Doctor Khumalo due to his impressive performances thus far
- News has emerged that Baccus is keen to adopt Khumalo's retired number 15
- The Chiefs legend expressed some concern at the news
Kaizer Chiefs new boy Kearyn Baccus has made an impressive start to life at Naturena.
The 28-year-old has dictated play nicely in the middle of the park and early comparisons have been made with Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo.
Reports have also surfaced that the Australian midfielder is keen to adopt Khumalo's iconic number 15.
However, Khumalo expressed concern at the recent development.
The Daily Sun reported that Khumalo is open to the idea, but feels that certain criteria first need to be met.
The Chiefs legend said, “Yoh. He must know that what he is going to be wearing is not a child’s play. That jersey is something that the Amakhosi faithful loved to cherish."
Briefly.co.za understands that Khumalo feels that Baccus should request permission from Khumalo when the time is right.
In the same way that Khumalo did when he approached the great Jan “Malombo” Lechaba for his famous number 15 jersey.
Khumalo said, “He must know that he will be wearing a gold mine, that jersey doesn’t come cheap. He is more than welcome to speak to me.”
The Amakhosi legend added that if Baccus reaches the same heights as Khumalo did then he doesn't see a reason to refuse him the iconic number.
