Jerry Mofokeng is an Mzansi acting legend! Even though his signature eyes got him many roles, he was bullied hectically because of them when he was young.

Receiving an honorary doctorate after 20 plus years in the entertainment industry just shows what an impact Jerry has made.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Jerry opened up about up the trauma he went through as a child and even an adult because of the way he looks.

Jerry was not born with his eyes like that; he injured them at the age of 14. Medicine was still very primitive at the time, which led to jerry growing a thick layer of scarring over his eyes.

After being endlessly teased and bullied, Jerry developed an extremely low self-esteem which made him question his worth often.

“The kids called me Sgili, Lehlo, One-eye Mambazo and it hurt me deeply," revealed Jerry.

Despite all the physical and emotional trauma that Ferry experienced right through his life, he was still able to rise above and make something of himself. Jerry strives to promote kindness.
