Rebecca Malope fearlessly tells the story of how, as a child, she was forced to eat rats because there simply was nothing else.
The gospel superstar came from extremely humble beginnings and has built a career that is truly something to be proud of.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Rebecca is writing a book about her life that she hopes will inspire others who grew up in poverty to make something amazing out of their lives.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Rebecca revealed that growing up in KaNyamazane outside Nelspruit in the squalor of a squatter camp, she did not have an easy childhood.
Living the life she does now, Rebecca feels humbled as she once had to eat rats for dinner just to survive.
“We were so poor that we had to eat rats in order to survive,” she said.
Rebecca hopes that her story will let others who have experienced or are experiencing things that she did, that they are not alone in their circumstances. She hopes to turn her story into a theatre production too.
