Man’s gym mishap makes SA cringe: “Felt that pain through the phone”

A man learnt the painful truth that jumping the gun is often not the wisest thing to do.

While at gym, he bit off more than he could chew as he tried lifting an extremely heavy weight.

Briefly.co.za gathered the man was attempting to squat with the gargantuan weight, but he collapsed dramatically as he attempted the first rep.

The incident was caught on camera and his spotter does little to prevent the accident as hysterical laughter can be heard in the background.

The video was shared via Twitter by @AdvBarryRoux and the post went viral.

Alarmed social media users expressed concern for the man's safety, but others found the footage hilarious.

A Guy From Next Door (@sjmofokeng) expressed how the video affected him:

"I felt that pain through the phone."

Tshezi_jalamba (@TJalamba) shared his concern for the young man:

"I hope this guy is fine. This might be an end of him. Yey mahn."

Timbuktu (@Sediks_Leroux) revealed a common sentiment:

"That is dangerous bra, you never do that. The trainer doesn't know what they are doing. He could actually die from or permanently damage his spine."

Bapi Ntshangase (@KwaSwayimane) gave some good advice:

"Sad sight indeed. Some say nothing ventured nothing gained. Gym is a gradual process. There are so many people competing or misleading each other at gym."
