- Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Punch Masenamela celebrated his birthday on Thursday
- The left-back infamously departed from the Amakhosi to join Mamelodi Sundowns
- Football followers took to social media to wish him well on his special day
Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Punch Masenamela turned 33 on Thursday and local football followers wished him well.
The left-back was at the centre of controversy on a few occasions during his career and was a fan favourite, but then turned villain.
He endeared himself to Amakhosi supporters due to his attacking runs and crosses, but then incurred their wrath when he signed for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Masenamela made over 30 appearances for both clubs and played for Bafana on 7 occasions.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the defender scored two goals during his time at the Brazilians.
The 33-year-old had a moment to forget when he referred to "getting three points" following a Nedbank Cup match with Chiefs.
Rose Wa Lekhosi Mabitle lauded the defender:
"He was a great player, Happy Birthday Punch."
Katlego Kaygee Kekana questioned Masenamela's move to the Brazilians:
"What a great left wingback this man was. He would have gone places had he not chosen to sign for a certain team."
Thabo Tandani touched on a blunder in the past:
"Happy birthday to the guy who acknowledged 3 points in a Nedbank cup game."
Chris Machrijo Cvk added,
"He was the Best when it comes 2 overlapping & Crosses."
