Kelly Khumalo is rising to power like a phoenix from the ashes. She's been through a lot over the past few years and months, but she claiming back her power - through music.

The singer dropped a new single on Friday, 18 October and expects it to be a hit, according to TimesLIVE.

Kelly had her fans wondering what's going on when news broke that she wouldn't be playing the lead role in Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story any more, but now it makes sense - she's focusing on her music career.

There were reports that she was let go from the film's production because of her 'diva tendencies', but during an interview with TshisaLIVE, she said that's not true.

"I will not talk about the biopic, but what I can say is that they can say whatever they want about me, they know the truth. Whatever they sweep under the rug will come to light!"

Kelly also said her new song isn't about her failed relationship with Chad Da Don, but all her previous experiences.

"My song is not about any particular relationship but it is about all my previous relationships and being undermined by men."

Briefly.co.za gathered that this song is about Kelly 'meeting herself' for the first time.

"I finally met myself. I met the woman that I am, the highly gifted woman that I am. I'm done downplaying it. I know I am powerful. I know I am beautiful, I know I am resilient."

Undithatha Kancinci was co-written by Msaki and took 6 months to bring to life.
