Many local football followers have been left scratching their heads at the form of Mamelodi Sundowns during cup competitions in recent seasons.
The Brazilians have often been the best side in the country based on their consistency in the Premier Soccer League, but this generally hasn't translated to cup success.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane touched on why this may be, but also revealed a change in approach this year.
SowetanLIVE reported that Mosimane alluded to the focus being on the league and CAF Champions League in previous campaigns.
Mosimane said, "Cups are always a problem because we run a different programme. We want to win the league and the CAF Champions League as priority, but we want to win one local cup for the fans."
The Telkom Knockout commences over the weekend and Sundowns are set to face AmaZulu on Sunday.
However, Briefly.co.za understands that Mosimane has had endless problems trying to arrange training sessions this week.
Mosimane explained: "There is nobody at Sundowns, Safa takes everybody. I am left with Manqoba and we just look at each other."
