Mzansi rapper Yanga Chief recently revealed how he managed to get himself a feature spot on AKA’s lit track, Run Jozi.
Yanga has been a part of the Mzansi hi-hop scene for some time now. It was his gig as a videographer for SA hip-hop stars that gave Yanga his way in.
Briefly.co.za knows what an absolute success Run Jozi was. During a recent interview on the Sobering podcast, Yanga revealed how his feature in Run Jozi sparked his career.
Working on music videos for Kwesta and AKA, Yanga got the opportunity to spend time with the artists and get to know them.
Yanga revealed that AKA noticed him after hearing his verse on MarazAmc's track, Alumni, which was released six years ago as a bonus track on his Peripheral Vision EP. It was this that AKA got Yanga working with him on his album, Levels.
Run Jozi was Yanga’s first publicly released track which also became his first hit. AKA gave Yanga the break he needed and for that, he will forever be grateful.
