Former The Lion King and Isibaya actor, Andile Gumbi, who suffered a cardiac arrest and has been in a coma for the last week, has died.
Mzansi Magic confirmed the news of Andile’s death to TshisaLIVE on Friday, 25 October.
“On behalf of Mrs Gumbi and family, it is with profound sadness that we share the news that our beloved Andile passed away this morning. Andile received the best medical care possible.
“We request that the family be given space to grieve and that their privacy be respected in this very difficult time. The family will make a statement at the appropriate time, “ read the statement issued on behalf of the family.
Three days ago, Briefly.co.za reported that the 36-year-old actor suffered a massive heart attack and was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem, where he slipped into a coma.
Andile was a talented actor, dancer, singer and model and was known for his role as Zweli Ntshangase (Ngubane) in Isibaya, and as the adult Simba in Disney’s musical, The Lion King.
The news of Andile's passing has shook the country and led fans to share their condolences on social media.
