Global Citizen removes photo of Uyinene & Riky Rick after getting heat

- The upset caused by the tragic death of Uyinene Mrwetyana hasn't left South Africa and likely won't

- When Global Citizen decided to use her photo in a promotion of an upcoming event, SA saw red

- Since the uproar, Global Citizen has removed the picture of Uyinene and Riky Rick and issued an apology

Global Citizen had to apologise and remove a photo of Uyinene Mrwetyana and Riky Rick for their Rage In The City reward post.

This comes after the image caused massive outrage on social media - people were not impressed at all.

Uyinene's death is still a sensitive subject and peeps felt it was disrespectful of Global Citizen to use her image in their promotion.

IOL News quoted Global Citizen's apology:

"Global Citizen has apologised for use of the late Uyinene’s image in a Rewards email competition for (Rage in the City) that was sent to the Global Citizen South Africa database on Tuesday, 22 October 2019.
"The image was not used to gain profit and that it has been removed from all our platforms. Global Citizen team.”

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za reported the suspect accused of murdering Uyinene has been fired from his job at the Post Office where he worked.

Mzansi was dumbfounded by the fact the man had managed to obtain employment at the state-owned entity despite having a prior conviction.

Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has demanded action to be taken against those who knew of his conviction but hired him anyway.
