- Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is accused of suspending high-ranking officials as part of 'settling scores'
- A report that led to the official's axing is now being taken on judicial review
- It is believed the officials are being punished for their relationships with former Public Protector Lawrence Mushwana
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has suspended 4 high-ranking officials and CEO Basani Baloyi because of a Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA) report
However, the report is now being taken on judicial review, according to News24. Mkhwebane said that 3 of the 4 officials were suspended because they were sabotaging investigations.
It is believed that this is just a cover for the Public Protector's attempt at 'settling scores'.
Briefly.co.za gathered that former senior investigator for quality assurance, Isaac Matlawe, says the officials were suspended and targeted for other reasons.
Apparently, 2 of the officials were close to former Public Protector Lawrence Mushwana and they are being punished for it.
"Mkhwebane is hell-bent on settling scores from the Mushwana era. She has an axe to grind against senior managers from the era."
Meanwhile, Accountability Now has taken its fight against Mkhwebane to the High Court in a bid to have her declared unfit.
Mkhwebane is currently facing a DA-led attempt to have Parliament establish rules for her removal. The NGO says they are pursuing every avenue in their bid to have Mkhwebane ousted.
