- A faction within the EFF reportedly is calling for Dali Mpofu to replace Floyd Shivambu as the party's deputy
- A group has allegedly emerged that is against Julius Malema's continued leadership
- Dali Mpofu is currently facing the risk of being removed as the EFF's national chairperson
The Citizen reports that a faction within the EFF has emerged that wishes to see Floyd Shivambu removed as second-in-command and replaced by Mpofu.
Speculation has arisen that those within the party are opposed to Julius Malema continuing to serve as the EFF's leader.
Briefly.co.za reported that Dali Mpofu is facing the possibility of being removed from his post as national chairperson over his commitments as an advocate.
With the EFF's elective conference fast approaching, Sunday World reports that a full-scale succession battle is looking ever more likely.
Dubbed Kokota Paino, the faction opposed to Malema's continued reign over the party has different ideas for Mpofu's future.
This faction reportedly wants Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to serve as the party's secretary-general instead of Gordrich Gardee.
Malema has commented that people should not be surprised if prominent figures within the party fail to survive the elective conference.
This, according to the leader, is not a sign of division, but proof of the EFF's democratic processes:
“All positions in the EFF are contested, including that of the president. Don’t say there are divisions when Dali contests for the presidency in December, you must be happy that we have democratic processes."
