- Cassper Nyovest's label, Family Tree, used to be super busy and pumping out a lot of music
- These days though, it's quieter at the recording studio and Cassper says he's sticking to just him and Nadia Nakai for now
- However, if artists feel that they can convince the rapper to sign them, they should try, he's open to that idea
Cassper Nyovest's record label, Family Tree, is situated in Johannesburg and was established in 2014.
Since then it has grown a lot and went through many changes, most notably the departure of artists such as Gemini Major and Tshego, to which Cassper has responded as reported on by Briefly.co.za earlier.
SAHipHopMag reported that Tshego has spoken up about why he left Family Tree. He was quoted saying:
"I wanted to control when I drop. I wanted to control whether I get PR or marketing and how much I spend on this. I finally wanted someone to point a finger at. I wanted someone I can wake up in the morning and know that I can ask them why hasn’t this been done.
"I wanted to actually like, ‘Okay, it’s time to move, I need to hit these marks,’ but I needed people to be accountable to hit these marks. I can’t hit these marks alone."
As for Family Tree, Cassper says he'll be focusing on hiring engineers and producers first.
He's not completely against taking on new talent, so any artists looking for a shot can still try their luck.
