Pratt married Schwarzenegger’s daughter, author Katherine, this past June.

“I get along with him really well,” Schwarzenegger said of his 40-year-old son-in-law.

He told Kimmel that Pratt, who starred in the Avengers: Endgame movie, had asked for Katherine's hand in marriage in a very traditional way.

That probably means Pratt asked for Schwarzenegger's permission before getting down on a knee in front of Katherine.

The two men sealed their bond over strenuous gym sessions.

Schwarzenegger said, "When I watched him make his moves in the gym, the incline press specifically did it.

“Pumping iron was the decision-making factor, absolutely. We were in the gym, that was it."

He also praised Pratt as “a strong guy” whom he’s “very proud of,” quipping about that first gym session,

Arnold joked that when he first found out about Katherine’s relationship with Pratt, he was sceptical.

“I was blown away when my daughter was telling me that she was going out with him,” Arnold said.

“[I was like], ‘Do you have to be so competitive? I mean, do you have to have a guy that is taller than me, that is bigger than me, that is doing bigger movies than me … makes more money than me? What is going on here?’ “

He continued, “In all seriousness though, I’m really happy that he is such a great guy.

“Not only a very talented guy and a great actor and a great star and all this stuff, but a really kind man and kind to my daughter, which is the most important thing for me."

Briefly.co.za reported that Pratt and Katherine married on 8 June at a ranch in California after dating for a year.

They honeymooned in Hawaii two weeks later.

Pratt has said of his marital bliss, “God is good. I feel really good, really blessed. Everything is great.”
