- An ANC Youth League meeting allegedly turned violent
- A video surfaced online showing the ANCYL members fighting amongst each other
- Before long, the infamous chair-throwing began and it had Mzansi shocked
Chairs are apparently the ANC's weapon of choice. Several videos have surfaced online in the past showing members of the ruling party throwing and hitting each other with chairs.
The use of chairs to sort out differences even spread to the DA last year, Briefly.co.za reported at the time.
However, political parties seemed to have gotten over the love of throwing chairs until recently. Twitter parody account Man's Not Barry Roux shared a video of an ANC Youth League meeting.
The social media influencer did not reveal where or when the video took place and he captioned it:
"Issue of chairs have gravitated to the ANC youth league."
South Africans could hardly believe their eyes and they were saddened by the violence in a party that should be united.
Twitter user, @Sandile62372719, commented:
"Shame these guys think Thuma Mina will allow them to revive the youth league, they must be dreaming."
Another tweep, @kntsimane85, added:
"I remember the president once referred to a similar occasion as the festival of chairs."
