It is often said that a picture paints a thousand words, but what if it conveys contrasting messages?

A photo was recently shared via Twitter by Twitter user Dee_Kay (@Its_Khaya_) and it started trending, but has had a polarising thought.

The seemingly innocent and adorable picture included the following caption:

"Everyday during break, this Parent brings his grade 1 learner lunchbox through the fence and I could hear and see them through my office window giggling having their conversations while he eats under this Jacaranda Tree."

Briefly.co.za observed the public reaction and many were blown away by the gesture as they lauded the parent.

However, the conspiracy theories came out of the woodwork as well.

Some tweeps felt the parent was forced to see the child through the fence as a result of not contributing towards the monthly maintenance.

Sihle masuku (@Clasic) spoke from the heart:

"I'll speak from personal experience. My mom also brought me my lunch box to school and I felt embarrassed back then, but it's like she knew that she wouldn't that her time on earth was limited. I treasure such moments. Lala ngikuthula my Yonke into."

Choice (@Choice55177025) spoke from experience as a teacher:

"I used to be a primary school educator and I could tell easily the difference between a child that is loved by parents and one that isn't. This makes all the difference...high five to this parent."

DESMOND KATLEGO (@IAMDKZA) shared an interesting theory,

"This is what happens when you don’t pay damages you only get to see your child thru the fence."

Nyols Guy (@NyolsG) added,

"I also use to do this until the judge ordered me not to get within 100 meters of a school."

Others felt the parent's actions impaired the child's social development as he couldn't interact with fellow learners during his break.

Some tweeps also pointed out that the photo looked familiar and questioned the integrity of Dee_Kay.
