Halala: Rural boy from Eastern Cape successfully graduates as surgeon

A man from rural Eastern Cape has qualified as a surgeon. He took to social media to proudly share his achievement. Mzansi social media users congratulated him on his incredible success.

Abongile Matimba posted a picture in his graduation attire on Twitter with the caption:

"ENT specialist, Head & Neck surgeon...from rural EC, WSU product, I have been waiting for this moment. God is faithful"

His post got almost 4 000 likes as many congratulated the man on his inspirational achievement.

He later updated his post thanking everyone for their support:

"Thank you people, am humbled and I will serve the my patients with gratitude and honour"

Others even requested him to mentor them. Twitter user ABopheka said:

"I want to ask you to be my mentor. A successful black surgeon would be an amazing sounding board for the last years of my undergrad and beyond"

Briefly.co.za previously reported that a young village boy who successfully graduated has gone back to his community to empower the youth. The graduate, who served as a South African Goodwill Ambassador, runs a project aimed at assisting youth from disadvantaged areas in Limpopo.
