- President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Springboks huddled together for a quick meeting this morning
- With just hours to go before the team runs out onto the pitch, Ramaphosa did his best to pump up the athletes
- The leader made sure they knew that everyone, even the animals, is back in SA cheering them on
The clock ticking down until kick-off, President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Springboks met to take stock of the situation.
Ramaphosa was in high spirits as he surveyed the team that had made Mzansi burst with pride, relishing the calm before the storm that lies ahead.
The politician told the diverse group of talented players that literally everyone, 'even the animals', are back home rooting for them every step of the way:
“Everybody back home is totally behind you and they appreciate the journey that you’ve traveled.”
While the President and the Bokke did their best to steady nerves ahead of history being made, citizens had been contemplating the match from across the ocean.
Briefly.co.za reported that the #IfTheSpringboksWin movement had gone viral as South Africans tempted fate to deny them this moment.
