The late musical legend, Hugh Masekela, is being honoured by his former band members in the 80th Birthday Edition of The Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival.

Bra Hugh passed away at the age of 78 on the 23rd of January, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

Briefly.co.za learnt that the Hugh Masekela Band will be headlining this year's Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival in honour of their late brother, Hugh.

Thandiswa Mazwai has taken the honour of being the voice behind many memorable and legendary songs that Hugh himself once wrote and sang.

The festival is set to take place this weekend, 9 November, where Thandiswa and the band will be performing some of Hugh’s lesser-known tracks such as Fela Kuti's Lady, Introducing Hedzoleh Soundz, Languta and many more, to honour him as they feel these are the songs that meant a lot to him.
