- Brilliant Khuzwayo retired from football a few months ago after suffering a career-ending ankle injury
- The former goalkeeper previously represented both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates
- Khuzwayo will make a return to the FNB stadium for the Soweto Derby on Saturday in a halftime initiative arranged by league sponsors Absa
Briefly.co.za previously reported on the sudden retirement of former goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo a few months ago.
Khuzwayo suffered a serious and career-threatening ankle injury when he decided to hang up his gloves.
The 29-year-old remains one of the few players to have represented both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
It is therefore fitting that Khuzwayo will make a return to the football pitch at the FNB stadium for the sold-out Soweto Derby on Saturday.
As part of a halftime initiative arranged by league sponsors Absa, Khuzwayo will participate in the Woza Nazo shootout.
Although not a return to competitive action, fans will no doubt appreciate seeing Khuzwayo back in goal for a brief cameo.
KickOFF.com reported on the media statement issued by the PSL, which read:
"Brilliant Khuzwayo, a man who has played for both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, will return to a stadium that is all too familiar to him when he stands between the goal posts for the half-time Absa Premiership Woza Nazo shootout."
Briefly.co.za anticipates a mouthwatering contest as the Amakhosi are flying high, but haven't beaten Pirates in the league since 2014.
