- South African born actress Charlize Theron was honoured with the 'Hollywood Career Achievement Award' at the Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday.
- Theron's award was presented to her by actress Nicole Kidman, whom she starred with in the movie Bombshell
- Kidman received the same award last year, so Theron is in very good company
Theron was very emotional during her acceptance speech.
She thanked all the directors, writers, producers, actors and studios who gave her a chance to excel in Hollywood.
She said, "I only have the career I have because so many people in this industry have either mentored me, took me under their wing, showed me kindness and pushed me as far as I could ever go in my career."
She made special mention of the role she played in the 2003 movie, Monster, for which she won an Oscar.
Theron posted about the experience on her Instagram account.
She wrote, under a picture of her and Kidman, "Still bawling my eyes out from when @nicolekidman called me one of her heroes while presenting me with the @hollywoodawards Career Achievement Award."
"Thank you #HollywoodAwards for this incredible honour and thank you Nic for consistently showing up and being such an amazing friend. I'll go back to crying now."
