Raeez Kuhn was born on March 13, 1996 in Sophiatown and had his whole life ahead of him when tragedy struck.

At the age of two, Raeez's father lost his life in tragic accident. To make matters worse, Raeez lost his eyesight as well.

At the time, doctors suggested surgery to alleviate the medical condition, but his parents lacked the necessary funds.

He was left completely blind.

He faced a series of challenges growing up without the ability to see and spent some time living at the School for the Blind in Durban.

Raeez didn't allow the disability to get him down and started learning braille and honed his computer skills.

At the age of 10, he realised that he had a passion for music and set himself the objective of becoming a DJ.

Although many scoffed at the idea of a visually-impaired DJ, Raeez wasn't phased and slowly mastered the art of DJ-ing.

Briefly.co.za gathered that the physical challenge was not Raeez's only obstacle as he encountered jealousy and nastiness from others.

He said, “I had to learn to speak up for myself at a very young age. It’s been a very tough journey at times.”

However, he believes that his achievements should hopefully inspire others to overcome challenges in their lives.

Raeez added, “It’s about where you put your focus. I believe anything is possible.”

Unfortunately, Raeez finds himself in a catch 22 situation.

The young man revealed that promoters are willing to give him the necessary gigs, but he currently lacks the finances to acquire all the required equipment.

Briefly.co.za hopes a Good Samaritan will provide the assistance he requires, so that more South Africans can come to know Eezo the Blind DJ.
