- Khama Billiat has gushed about his team's success in the Absa Premiership
- Billiat said the team's "solid" defence helped them win
- His comments come before Saturday’s Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates
Khama Billiat has opened up about Kaizer Chiefs' impressive form in the Absa Premiership ahead of the Soweto derby against the Bucs on Saturday.
The Chiefs are at the top of the log with a five-point lead and although some believe their success is due to poor refereeing - Pitso Mosimane - Billiat has another theory.
Billiat credited the Amakhosi defensive structure for their "solid" performance.
"I really need to give credit to our defence line and our defensive organisation. It’s something that we have mastered very well. We don’t concede as much as we used to. We don’t concede goals‚ and when we do we also don’t concede them as easily as we used to."
The Chiefs have won eight of their 10 games - which is impressive especially when taking into consideration their poor performance last season.
Although Billiat is confident in their defence, he added there is still a lot more work to do to take home the cup.
"We just have started understanding each other better‚ and each one understands the coach’s philosophy better right now. It took a bit of time. And I think we’re getting into it and we really look like a team right now."
