AmaZulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has launched a new mobile network, Bayede Mobile, which he has promised will be cheaper.
Briefly.co.za learned that part of his promise is that data rates will either be the same as or cheaper than the competition.
“As a new black-owned mobile network for the people of the Zulu Kingdom, KwaZulu-Natal and greater South Africa, it is the vision of Bayede Mobile to enable more communities to connect with ease, and at cheaper rates,” said a statement on the website.
“It is our mission to leverage existing and new partnerships with both local and international stakeholders with the sole purpose of enabling stronger and cheaper connectivity in rural areas.”
Bayede Mobile has published its rates:
R5 - 10MB
R8 - 25MB
R15 - 50MB
R27 - 100MB
R47 - 200MB
R59 - 250MB
R145 - 1G
R245 - 2G
The sim cards will only be released to the public in KwaZulu-Natal when the network launches but network coverage will be available nationwide according to businessinsider.co.za.
On the lower end of the price bracket Bayede is cheaper but from R245 upward Telkom's offers are cheaper.
