- Golden Arrows derailed the title chances of Mamelodi Sundowns as they pulled off a stunning upset against the reigning champions on Sunday
- Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admitted that he was completely caught off-guard by the loss
- Mosimane felt it was a challenging match due to the weather conditions and poor pitch drainage
Mamelodi Sundowns have been breathing down the neck of log leaders Kaizer Chiefs thus far in the Premier Soccer League.
Many football pundits predicted the gap between the two sides would close as Chiefs faced a huge battle against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, while Sundowns needed to navigate an encounter against Golden Arrows on Sunday.
However, the points gap has increased as the Amakhosi picked up a hard-fought victory against their Soweto rivals, but Sundowns suffered a surprise loss to Arrows.
Downs mentor Pitso Mosimane admitted the result caught him by surprise as he didn't see it coming.
Mosimane revealed to SuperSport TV: "Ja, I never thought we'll lose this game."
The Sundowns coach also said, "Ja, the biggest mistake by our number one goalkeeper [Denis Onyango], it happens, it's the conditions."
Briefly.co.za gathered that Mosimane wasn't overly impressed with the condition of the pitch, although he admitted the weather conditions affected both teams.
Mosimane added, "I don't know if we can play that game here in this pitch, because the drainage is not good."
