It is that time of the year again when we get to know who among the sexy men alive is the sexiest of them all so we can all scramble for a piece of him, that is if he's not yet taken.

Briefly.co.za learnt that the pop singer, John Legend, was on Tuesday, 12 November named People's sexiest man alive for 2019, making him the 34th man to hold the title.

Legend, a man so talented he became one of only 15 stars to achieve EGOT status in 2018, took to Twitter to express his shock and gratitude at the same time following his latest title.

“I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure,” the entertainer said.

“Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m also following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me!" he added.

With a buttery voice and unparalleled musical skills, the star joins a long list of Hollywood’s hottest, starting with a then-29-year-old Mel Gibson in 1985.

When the announcement was made for 2017's Sexiest Man Alive, Blake Shelton, during Tuesday night's live episode of The Voice, Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, couldn't be more thrilled.

Teigen known for always making fun of her husband declared on Twitter that the honour was hers barely 2 hours after teasing fans with big news announcement.

"My secret is out. I have fulfilled my dream of having boned People's sexiest man alive!! An honour!" she wrote.

While many fans celebrated Legend's new honour, as happens every year, some were hoping for another man to win the title.

However, the cookbook author was prepared for the backlash.

"I cannot wait for people to get mad about John Legend being the sexiest man alive. It's my new Starbucks holiday cup," she tweeted.
"No don't send it to me, please. I like to see these people naturally, in the wild," she added.
