- Toya did not make it big with ease, your girl fought her way to the top
- A song she released in 2011 called Pump put her on the map
- Remembering the track and its meaning struck some good old memories in fans
Toya Delazy is one artist who has never forgotten the humble beginnings that she came from, nor has she ever taken what she has now for granted.
Breaking into the music industry in Mzansi is by no means easy. Toya has fought many battles but always come out on top.
Briefly.co.za came across a recent post of Toya’s where she tells her newer fans and reminds her older ones of the track that sparked her glory.
Toya released a track back in 2011 called Pump. The song took over literally every radio station in Mzansi and everyone knew the vibey chorus - “Pump it on, pump it on, hey pump it on”.
Taking to social media with a short clip of the music video for the track, Toya explained how this song changed her life.
Pump put Toya on the map and gave her the break that she so deserved! This song is more than just a beat and lyrics, it’s the thing that liberated Toya as a young talented black female trying to make it.
Veteran fans felt the vibe as the golden oldie brought back some lit memories.
@me.olu: "I still remember like it was yesterday - back to back."
@s.u.n.s.h.i.n.e.22: "It will always be my favourite song."
@kingshadi_: "What a time."
