Last week, a couple gave South Africans the feels with their unique proposal. A man, who has since been identified as Hector Mkansi, popped the question to his wife, Nonhlanhla Soldaat, on 2 November.

The proposal was caught on video and quickly went viral, reported. The couple became an overnight sensation and Mzansi quickly tracked them down. Big companies like Audi, Total South Africa and FNB pledged their services to the couple, and several celebs vowed to perform at their wedding for free.

Now, Mkansi and his missus opened up about the viral proposal in an interview with TimesLIVE.

Mkansi detailed how he popped the question in the sit-down interview. He took Soldaat to KFC to get something to eat after a "normal day" at Evaton Mall.

The romantic beau said he nagged Soldaat about deciding what to eat because he had a plan up his sleeve - he would hide the ring in her food.

Mkansi asked the KFC staff to help him by putting the ring in her food and they ended up placing it in a small bag of fries.

The couple already tied the knot in December last year but they plan on having a second wedding with the help offered by South Africans.

Mkansi said he was not satisfied with the rings and decided to revamp them, The Sowetan reported.

“I don’t have money, so I can’t afford the things I want to do for her. I wanted her to feel special and loved. I couldn’t just throw them at her,” he said.
