- British actress Lashana Lynch has been rumoured to be taking over the role of James Bond for a few months now
- Some franchise fans are not at all happy that a woman might be taking over the role of Bond
- Although the actress has not confirmed that she will indeed be the next Bond, she said she always responds to critics in a classy way
Lynch stars as an agent in the upcoming Bond flick No Time To Die. This is what began the speculation that she might be the next Bond.
People have said she cannot play Bond because she is a female and black.
When interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, the thirty-one-year-old said she handles the criticism in a gracious manner.
"It doesn't dishearten me," she said.
"It makes me feel quite sad for some people because their opinions, they're not even from a mean place - they're actually from a sad place," she continued.
She said she does not take negative social media posts personally.
"It's not about me. People are reacting to an idea, which has nothing to do with my life," she elaborated.
The actress said she sometimes disarms critical commentators by responding with a positive message of her own.
"They've been like, 'Oh my gosh, thank you so much!"' she said. "But it's an interesting test because it reminds them that they definitely wouldn't say that to someone's face."
Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan said it would be exciting to have a female lead.
He said, "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting."
