Now that the country is preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will hold in 2021, a little reshuffle has taken place on the Bafana Bafana squad who are playing the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. This article contains the names of Bafana Bafana squad representing the country and brief information about each of them in the following paragraphs.
The AFCON tournament, which would be taking place in two years' time, is crucial to Molefi Ntseki partly because that is the first competitive match that he would be leading the national team to. Hence, careful consideration and selection of the Bafana Bafana squad for qualifiers are inevitable.

1. Darren Keet
Darren plays for OH Leuven as a goalkeeper. He made his international debut on the 10th of September, 2013 for South Africa when they played a friendly match at Orlando Stadium against Zimbabwe. He has also played for clubs like Vasco Da Gama, KV Kortrijk, and Bidvest Wits.

2. Ricardo Goss
The Cape Town-born Darren Keet plays for OH Leuven in the Belgian First Division B as a goalkeeper. Before he signed for the Belgian club KV Kortrijk, in 2008, he made his PSL debut with the Students. Before he joined Premier Soccer League side Bidvest Wits, Darren was one of the members of the Vasco Da Gama squad that won promotion to the National First Division.
3. Ronwen Williams
As a professional football goalkeeper, Ronwen plays for the Premier Soccer League club SuperSport United. In a friendly match against Brazil on the 5th of March, 2014, he made his first match for South Africa after Itumeleng Khune, the first-choice keeper, suffered a sprained ankle.
4. Erick Mathoho
Fully known as Mulomowandau Eric Mathoho, Mathoho plays Centre-back position presently for Kaizer Chiefs and South Africa, and is fortunate to be part of the Bafana squad. Since 2012 that he joined Kaizer Chiefs, Erick has made 115 appearances with nine goals while between 2009 and 2012 that he was with Bloemfontein Celtic, he made 56 appearances with four goals.
5. Thulani Hlatshwayo
The professional South African footballer Hlatshwayo was given birth to in Soweto, Gauteng. He plays as a defender for the South African national team as well as Bidvest Wits and captains both teams. His skills were felt in clubs like Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits. Since he joined the national team in 2013, he has made 43 appearances and has three goals recorded to him.
6. S'fiso Hlanti
The Durban born S'fiso Hlanti has played for Chippa United, Lamontville Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, and Thanda Royal Zulu. But at the moment, he plays as a left-back for Bidvest Wits. Since he joined the national team in 2016, he has made 96 appearances.
7. Buhle Mkhwanazi
Buhle Mkhwanazi was born in Bloemfontein, Free State, and currently, he plays as either defensive midfielder or a centre-back for Bidvest Wits in the Premier Soccer League. Since he joined Bidvest Wits in 2014, he has made 111 appearances with six goals and thirteen appearances since he joined the South African national team in 2013.
8. Thapelo Morena
Thapelo plays the right back/right wing for Mamelodi Sundowns F.C as well as the midfield with the South Africa national football team. He was once called up to the national team before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but then, he had to pull out because he had a quad injury.

Innocent Maela plays for Orlando Pirates and has made 51 appearances since he joined in 2017 with two goals in the record for him. However, when he played for Witbank Spurs between 2012 and 2014, he made 35 appearances with four goals, and from 2014 to 2017, he made 82 appearances with five goals when he played for Thanda Royal Zulu.
11. Thamsanqa Mkhize
The professional South African player made twenty-one appearances between 2010 and 2013 when he played for Golden Arrows and 64 appearances with a goal when he played for Maritzburg United between 2013 and 2016. Then, since Thamsanqa Mkhize joined Cape Town City in 2016, he has made 72 appearances with three goals so far, and while on the South African national team, he has made eleven appearances since he joined in 2017.
12. Kamohelo Mokotjo
As a defensive midfielder, Mokotjo plays for Brentford. He led the U12 national team to victory when he captained them during the Danone Nations Cup in France in 2003, and consequently, he got the Player of the Tournament title. So far, he has played for SuperSport United, PEC Zwolle, Twente, Feyenoord, and Excelsior. As a player on the national team, he has made 21 appearances since 2012.
13. Lebohang Phiri
Lebogang Lelani Phiri plays for French Ligue 1 club EA Guingamp. He is skilled in playing in several midfield positions, but most time, he plays as a central midfielder. Lebogang has played for several clubs, including Real Madrid, Balfour Park, and Shooting Stars Sports Concepts. Since he started playing for South Africa's U23, he has made three appearances with a goal.
14. Bongani Zungu
Best known as a box-to-box midfielder and the chances he creates for his teammates, Bongani Zungu has also done so well playing for the University of Pretoria, Mamelodi Sundowns, Vitória Guimarães, and Amiens. While playing for all these clubs, he made a total of 133 appearances with ten goals, and since he joined the national team in 2013, he has made 29 appearances with four goals. Currently, Zungu plays for Amiens SC in Ligue 1 as a midfielder.
15. Dean Furman
Furman plays for SuperSport United as a midfielder. In 2012, he made his debut for the South Africa national team when he represented the nation at two tournaments of the Africa Cup of Nations. He has played for Oldham Athletic, Doncaster Rovers, and SuperSport United, among others. Since he joined the national team in 2012, he has made 54 appearances with four goals.
16. Thulani Serero
Thulani Caleb Serero once played for Ajax, Vitesse, and Ajax Cape Town before he started playing for Al Jazira as a midfielder. On several occasions, he has also received awards, including PSL Players' Player of the Season, PSL Player of the Season, PSL Footballer of the Year, and the ABSA Premiership Red Hot Young Player award.
17. Thato Mokeke
The Cape Town-born Thato Mokeke has played for different clubs like Winners Park, Cape Town City, SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town as a central defender. In 2014, he made his international debut for South Africa.
18. Themba Zwane
Themba Zwane plays for the South Africa national team and Mamelodi Sundowns as a midfielder. Since he joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2011, he made 148 appearances and scored 24 goals. Also, after he joined the national team in 2014, he has scored two goals out of the twenty appearances that he made.
19. Aubrey Modiba
The 24 years old Aubrey "Postman" Modiba plays for SuperSport United F.C as a left-back and left-winger. While with Mpumalanga Black Aces, he made 26 appearances, and since he joined the national team in 2016, he has made seven appearances.
20. Mothobi Mvala
Mothobi Mvala currently plays for Highlands Park as a midfielder with 111 appearances and 34 goals since he joined the club in 2014. He played for U-23 in 2016, and since he joined the national team in 2017, he has made four appearances.
21. Percy Tau
Currently, Percy Tau plays on loan for Club Brugge from Brighton & Hove Albion. Since he started his senior career, he has made a total of 109 appearances with 29 goals in all. When he played for Sundowns, he won a CAF Champions League once and the league title twice as well as the Proximus League Player of the Season award while with Union SG.
22. Lebo Mothiba
Lebogang Mothiba has a record as the first player who scored in three consecutive matches from debut for the country. In 2017, he made his professional debut for Ligue 2 side Valenciennes. He presently plays for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg as a striker. He joined the national team in 2018 and has made twelve appearances with four goals.
23. Bradley Grobler
Bradley plays for SuperSport United as a striker. On the 15th of November, 2011, he scored during his international debut, a match against Zimbabwe. He has played for clubs like Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town with notable goals in all. Since he joined SuperSport United in 2013, he has scored 37 goals.
24. Kermit Erasmus
The Port Elizabeth born Kermit Romeo Erasmus plays for Cape Town City. He has played for Feyenoord, Supersport United, Orlando Pirates, and AFC Eskilstuna, among others, with his impact usually felt on the field. Then, since he joined the national team in 2010, Kermit has made 15 appearances with two goals.
25. Thembinkosi Lorch
Nicknamed "sms" (Shake my soul) or "Nyoso", Thembinkosi Lorch plays for Orlando Pirates as a Midfielder and since he joined the team in 2017, he has scored fourteen goals out of his 56 appearances. The team he had the highest goals for was Maluti FET College totalling 93 out of 46 appearances.
