Mzansi rapper Emtee spoke out against his former label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, on MTV's new show, Behind The Label. He said they are stealing his credits and he wants his awards back.
Mzansi rapper, Emtee, has taken another strike against his former label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, for holding on to his awards.
According to ZAlebs, this time the rapper appeared on MTV’s new show, Behind The Label, on Wednesday night and brought all the music related evidence with his during his interview to discuss his career.
The rapper, who looked cleaner and in a healthier space, spoke out at great length about his experience in music and his public fallout with his former record label.
Emtee never spared any kind words for his former employer but instead demanded to have all of his awards back from AE.
“I remember my first win was at the South African Hip Hop Awards. I was very happy and everyone was congratulating me while I had the award in my hand. The boss man then comes up behind and says, ‘Give me what’s mine.' When I checked, the award had my name on it.”
Fans empathised with Emtee and other ex Ambitiouz artists. A few popular artists including, Priddy Ugly, Fifi Cooper also took their time to speak out.
The show ended with Emtee explaining why he eventually decided to leave the record label after more than three years.
“I reached the point where it couldn’t go on any further. I have two kids and I can’t allow people who don’t even know me to dictate my life. My kids are going to look at me one day and ask why I didn’t stand up for myself.”
Meanwhile, five months ago, Briefly.co.za reported that the rapper spoke to TshisaLive that he is doing what he can to survive.
Emtee revealed that his wife and kids have moved in with his in-laws while he tries to find a new place for them and also negotiate an exit from his record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment.
News of Emtee wanting to exit the label went viral last week after the rapper took to Twitter to share the hashtag, #FreeEmtee, and listed his frustrations with the label, which included being told who he could and couldn’t work with.
According to TshisaLive, Emtee confirmed that he wanted to leave the label, but on an “as clean as possible” basis.
