- SA's revenue service has announced that it fired its head of legal, Refiloe Mokoena
- Mokoena was found guilty of misconduct linked to the Gupta family
- According to a recent report, Mokoena was dismissed with immediate effect on Friday 15 November
SARS has terminated the services of its head of legal, Refiloe Mokoena on Friday 15 November, with immediate effect.
This decision came after a disciplinary hearing that was chaired by a senior council member from the Johannesburg Bar, reports TimesLIVE.
Mokoena has been found guilty of serious misconduct and it was recommended that she be dismissed immediately.
Briefly.co.za learnt that in October the now-dismissed Mokoena was allegedly involved with the granting of an R420 million VAT refund to the Gupta family.
A BusinessLIVE report indicates that SARS asked Mokoena in September to explain why she shouldn't be suspended over the massive refund.
She was one of 5 executives placed on precautionary suspension to await the disciplinary process results.
