Durban has become the home to the largest beachfront promenade in Africa and is now a prime target for international tourists.

The R380-million extension to the promenade was christened with am 8km fun run which started at the Blue Lagoon and ended at Ushaka Marine World. The opening of the extension was led by the eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda.
"Whenever you take a walk here, you are able to interact with different people," said Kaunda.
"You take your family, you stage a walk, you stage a picnic and this is exactly what we thought of when we created such a facility.
"It will enhance our tourism as a city”.
Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the MEC for economic development believes that small business owners have the most to gain from the project.
“We are already reaping rewards from this promenade," Dube-Ncube said.
"As you would see there is going to be small businesses that are going to be opening here from now on moving into the festive season.”
