Irvin took over the leadership of the team in 1990 and spent the better part of the 90s transforming it. By then, the team was bankrupt. He helped mould some of the award-winning players who were traded internationally, and as a result, the finances of the club were brought to shape. In July 2019, the club launched its new home and away jerseys as it awaited starting of the 2019/2020 season. The new home kits were characterised with white shirts with black stripes. The kits stood out as they represented the club's tradition and heritage. Another unique thing about the jerseys is that for the first time Adidas has made white shirts incorporated with black stripes.

For the away kits, the black jerseys were retained although a few changes were made among them: a V-neck collar, three trademark stripes on the side of the jersey as well as some black motives.

Recently, the current coach of the team expressed his concern over the players' performance for the past matches. He attributed that issues had been caused by the disruptions that were in the team since Milutin Sredojevic had left them. He also stated that the new players were still trying to get into the culture and style of the team hence the results. He, however, promised to post better results.
