-The incident reportedly took place at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi
- The nurse has since been suspended
A nurse has landed in hot water after she was filmed allegedly verbally abusing a patient at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi, south of Durban.
According to TimesLIVE, the nurse was suspended after the video of the incident surfaced online.
"Why are you so insolent, you piece of s**t? Hey, voetsek." - she's heard saying in the video.

Needless to say, South Africans were not impressed with the nurse's actions and accused her of not valuing her job.
Twitter user, @rethabilethand1, wrote:
"She is so rude. I'm really disgusted by watching this, how can you treat a patient like this? Some people don't value their jobs. She must be definitely given a hard lesson from this so she will never do it to anyone."
Another tweep, @Quinfdsouth, added:
"This is so sad. Why are we treating each other like this?"
It's not the first time South Africans were subjected to ill-treatment in state-owned hospitals. Briefly.co.za reported earlier this year that the country was outraged over the humiliating treatment an elderly lady received at the Mamelodi Hospital.
