Mthembeni Ndevu, better known as Emtee, has provided social media users and music lovers with some clarity on who invented African trap music.

He did - and he wanted to make sure that everyone knows. Briefly.co.za noticed that Emtee did not make the claim in arrogance, and he has been one of the biggest pioneers for the sub-genre.

Trap music is a hip-hip genre developed in the early 2000s in America and musicians like Lil Wayne made it popular.

In Africa, Sjava and Emtee have been making African trap music a big deal and now Emtee has taken the title of inventor for himself.
