Mzansi’s first Xitsonga drama series, Giyani: Land of Blood, is sadly coming to an end on SABC 2.
The telenovela, which heated up TV screens for seven months, starred Ndivhuwo Mutsila, Candy Tsa Mandebele and Yvonne Chaka Chaka. The show was set in Giyani, Limpopo and featured the conflict between two families locked in a bitter, decades-long squabble over a pieve of fertile land and the banana plantation.
According to Okmzansi, SABC 2 put out a statement confirming the show will be coming to and end on 26 November 2019 and it will be replaced by another telenovela titled Lithapo – starting January 2020.
“As with any telenovela, it was due to end after some time,” read the statement on Twitter.
But social media users were not happy about the sudden announcement. The series topped the Twitter trends list with the hashtag, #GiyaniLandOfBlood. The believed the SABC could have done better to accommodate the telenovela which seemed to be liked and doing well.

A few months ago, Briefly.co.za reported when the show first started, that Giyani: Land of Blood was South Africa's first Tsonga TV show and it was a massive hit with South Africans after its first episode.
Mzansi was left begging for more after getting a taste of the first episode, and they felt that it should have been longer. Yvonne Chaka Chaka had a leading role in the show, and she's gave viewers life with her amazing acting skills.
It didn't take long for the show's hashtag to start trending on social media as fans shared their pleasure with how good the show was.
