Kaizer Chiefs have been flying in the Absa Premiership this season and could receive another boost as one of the injured players is on the cusp of making his return.

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo made his debut for the Amakhosi earlier this year and much has been expected of the talented youngster.

Unfortunately, Ngcobo was forced off in the match against SuperSport United in March after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

Chiefs fans will be excited to learn that the young midfielder is on the verge of returning to the senior team as reported by KickOFF.com.

The 20-year-old was set to return to fitness by September, but Chiefs have eased him back at a slower rate as a precautionary measure.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Ngcobo played the full 90 minutes in the Multichoice Diski Challenge match against Orlando Pirates, with coach Ernst Middendorp in attendance.

Ngcobo is therefore in contention for a return in the Telkom Knockout semi-final clash with Maritzburg United on Sunday.

Ironically, the midfielder made his senior debut against the same opponents last season.
