- The popular TV drama show, Giyani: Land of Blood, has a lot of fans who look forward to every episode
- However, SABC2 has announced that the show will come to an end on 26 November and no one is happy about it
- One disgruntled fan even decided to start a petition in the hopes of keeping the telenovela on air
Giyani: Land of Blood has been one of the most popular shows on South African television lately, but now the show has been cancelled - a decision that baffles fans.
According to eNCA, the show's debut got more than 1.5 million views, and yet it will be coming to an end on 26 November.
This decision by SABC2 has prompted a fan to start a petition, hoping that the show could be on screen for longer.
The show, which stars favourites such as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Candy Tsa Mandebele and Ndivhuwo Mutsila, will be replaced by another show, Lithapo, in January, Briefly.co.za gathered.
The person who started the petition feels that Giyani has reached the hearts of South Africans and it should stay on TV.
"The drama has stolen the hearts of multitudes of South Africans and teaches other tribes the ways of the Tsonga, Venda, Mapedi and Balobedu-speaking people's culture and their daily challenges. It has found a way to teach us to unite and acknowledge our differences as tribes."
It is hoped that 500 000 signatures will be gathered, and within 12 hours, 10 000 were already secured.
Here's what tweeps had to say about the show's impending end:
