How to reset a forgotten GDE online portal password

Are you a parent that is frustrated after forgetting their GDE online portal password? If that is the case, you do not have to worry any more.

  • On your browser, search 'log in to Gauteng Department of Education.' Alternatively, you can gain quick access to the site by clicking here.
  • On the dialogue box that will be provided, click on the login option.
  • Select the 'Forgot password' option.
  • Enter your parent identification number or passport number.
  • Click on the 'recover account' option.
  • A code will be generated and sent to the phone number that you provided while creating the portal.
  • Re-enter the parent identification number or passport number as well as the code that you would have received in the form of a text message.
  • Enter your new password.
  • Confirm the new password.
  • Click on the 'recover account' option.
  • The login dialogue box will be displayed, and it will require you to provide the parent identification number or passport number and the password. Enter the new password.

The process of GDE placement has, however, panicked many parents as the number of pupils who have not yet been placed stood at 14,000 as of the 19th of November, 2019.

The MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi has commented on the matter and tried to settle the tension and maintain order. He stated that the department is pushing the schools to ensure that they increase the sizes of the classes to take care of the pupils who had not been placed. In his Twitter post, he promised that all the pupils would be placed by November 30th, which is the deadline for the process. He also urged the parents to cooperate by accepting the placement offers so that the rejected offers can be allocated to other applicants.
