Tom Hanks found out that he is related to the character he plays in his new movie 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood'.
The character Hanks is related to is Fred Rogers, who played Mister Rogers on the children's TV show.
Ancestry.com discovered that they are sixth cousins. The share the same great-grandfather five times removed.
Their grandfather immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century.
Access Hollywood broke the news to Hanks on Sunday.
Hanks said he had no idea he was related to Rogers when he took the role.
"It all just comes together, you see," he exclaimed.
His wife, Rita Wilson was just as shocked.
"No, impossible! You're pulling our leg," she proclaimed.
Hanks and Wilson are celebrating 31 years of marriage this year.
The two met in 1986 on the Volunteers movie set.
The way they fell in love is slightly scandalous as Hanks was already married with two children.
However, the spark between the two was so electric that he went public with Wilson before he had even finalised his divorce.
The pair subsequently had two sons in their marriage.
'A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood' premieres on 22 November.
