Mzansi is bursting with pride as they celebrate Trevor Noah’s first ever Grammy nomination at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Noah’s stand-up special, Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia, has been nominated in the Best Comedy Album category alongside other major comedians, including the likes of Ellen Denegeres. Noah’s comedy album is a recording of a live stand-up set and he scored his nod for the audio recording of his special.
He posted an emotional message on Instagram: “Today I woke up to the news that I’ve been nominated for a Grammy award. A GRAMMY AWARD!!! And just when I thought the feeling couldn’t get any better, I saw the other names in my category and I almost cried. What a life I’ve been blessed enough to live. Thank you mom.”
Trevor also listed the other nominees in the category.
Mzansi was overwhelmed with excitement, even some celebs took to social media to celebrate Trevor’s nomination and congratulate SA’s national treasure.
Trevor continues to break boundaries overseas and is proof that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.
