'Days of Our Lives' is one of the longest-running scripted television shows in the world.

It has aired every weekday since 8 November 1965.

Viewers were horrified to hear, earlier this month, that it might be getting cancelled.

None of the contracts of any of the cast were renewed, raising concerns about the soapie's future on screens.

Sources have told Variety that the show is definitely coming back for a 56th season.

NBC and the show's producers, Corday Productions, are close to signing the deal.

Fans are relieved that the much-loved soapie will be remaining on air.

The daytime soapie has run for over 13 000 episodes.
