Video shows woman tackled to ground in Bruma robbery, SA reacts

Crime is an issue in South Africa, there is no doubt about that. And one unfortunate woman became the victim of a robber in Bruma.

Yusuf Abramjee posted a video of the robbery on Thursday. It shows a woman standing in front of an open boot when she gets attacked by a thug.

The footage shows the thug tackling the woman to the ground in an attempt to steal her handbag. After he succeeded, the thug runs to a white getaway car before driving off.

According to IOL, the Gauteng SAPS apprehended a suspect in connection with the incident.

"A Zimbabwean national is expected to appear before the Jeppe Magistrate Court on Monday 25 November 2019 after he was arrested in Cleveland on Thursday evening 21 November 2019,” Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters confirmed.

The footage received over 52 000 views since it was shared online and South Africans were not impressed by the people who stood watch while the woman was being robbed. Tweeps pointed out that the men only tried to help after the thug drove away.

Twitter user, @Culolethu24, commented:

"This guy was watching from the beginning did nothing. But now he is chasing them. He had a chance to help the lady."

Another tweep, @PicassoWekasi, wrote:

"That guy in blue was just standing there the whole time, ayi ah."

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported on another brazen robbery in broad daylight. A video has been shared on social media showing a group of men robbing a pedestrian in broad daylight. According to the narration of the person recording the incident, the robbers took the man's phone and wallet.
