- The Chiefs are eyeing a great season and hope to put the bad luck of the past behind them
Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic feels really good about his teammates Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro. The trio of forwards is formidable when in possession of the ball.
The forwards are developing a good understanding according to Nurkovic. The lethal combination will be on display on Sunday when the Chiefs face off against Martizburg United in the Telkom Knockout at Mombela Stadium according to the sowetanlive.co.za.
Briefly.co.za learned that the chiefs are currently topping the log of the ABSA Premiership table and are thriving under the tutelage of coach Ernst Middendorp.
“I am enjoying every moment with these players on the pitch. Whether it is Castro or Khama‚ or Lazarous [Kambole]‚ or Lebogang behind us‚” Nurkovic said.
“It is a really good feeling to play with them.
“We are three up-front so we are rotating‚ sometimes Khama on the left‚ Castro on the right. And there is good communication between us.”
When the Serbian striker joined the Chiefs there were some who questioned whether the signing of the striker was a good move. Nurkovic came from the Slovakian second division, a team called Komarno.
He adapted to the quick play style of the PSL very quickly and has become popular with the fans for his strength under the high ball.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier on how the Chiefs are winning back their fans after a disastrous four years without a single trophy.
