Tornado season: KZN hit again, this time near the Ulundi region

The situation in KwaZulu-Natal has escalated with reports of yet another tornado wreaking havoc in the Ulundi region. The South African Weather Service has warned citizens of severe weather conditions affecting the province.

Yet another tornado has hit KwaZulu-Natal, this time near Ulundi with severe thunderstorms gripping the region.

The South African Weather Service issued warnings for the area on Saturday following the storm, reports The Citizen.

Briefly.co.za reported that a tornado had hit the Utrecht region, damaging numerous homes prompting disaster management teams to deploy.

The service warned against inclement weather conditions, including severe thunderstorms and hail, which are expected across the province.

The following regions are expected to be affected:

  • uThukela
  • uMzinyathi
  • uMgungundlovu
  • Amajuba
  • iLembe
  • King Cetshwayo Zululand
  • uMkhanyakude Districts

After disturbing footage of a taxi being swept away in heavy water washing over the road, the government reminded citizens to travel cautiously.
