The Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United battled it out on the pitch today with Martizburg United pulling off a gutsy win. Martizburg United beat the Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit.

The game had been hyped up in the media with many putting the Chiefs as favourites to win. However, Maritzburg United had other plans.
Briefly.co.za learned that the first goal was made by Judas Moseamedi on the half-hour mark to put United in the lead. A chance to equalise by the CHiefs was missed shortly before half time. When the whistle blew, United was in the lead as they entered the second half.

Things looked up for the Chiefs when they equalised with a goal by Sasman. However, United did not leave it at that and restored their lead five minutes later with a goal from Moseamedi which ultimately decided the fate of the match according to soccerladuma.co.za.
The Kaizer Chiefs had to wave their chance at a final against Sundowns goodbye as Martizburg United cheered their victory and their chance at the Telkom Knockout final.

Earlier today, Briefly.co.za reported on Pitso Mosimane being nominated for the CAF Coach of the Year award, if he succeeds against Martizburg United in the final he may just walk away with the award.
