The Afrima Awards were established by the International Committee AFRIMA in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to celebrate musical work, talent and creativity around the African continent while promoting cultural heritage.

It was at this event that South Africa was made very proud of Nasty C, Nadia Nakai and Sjava as all three of them were recognised for their individual talents and contributions.

Nadia scooped up two awards - Best Female Artiste Southern Africa and Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop and was quickly hailed as the African Rap Queen.

This comes after she also won the Female of the Year Award at the 2019 South African Hip Hop Awards.
